Prophecy’s Modern Twist on Jazz History

Prophecy Bar at the Rosewood Georgia Hotel
By Zara Khan

Tucked underneath the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, the Prophecy Bar has been rapidly establishing its place as one of our favorite jazz and blues venues in the city since opening in 2024. This is Prophecy’s first time participating in the 2025 Vancouver Jazz Festival Club Series, and they’ll be extending their Wednesday night jazz sessions to five nights during the festival, including resident artists Malcolm Aiken Quartet, Adam Robert Thomas Trio, and Scott Hills.

With jazz intrinsically woven into the history of the underground oasis of the Hotel Georgia, Prophecy has continued the legacy of attracting jazz show-goers for a night of fun vibes, mouth watering shared plates and delectable drinks. Cocktails here are anything but ordinary, crafted around storytelling and shared experiences.

We talked to Justin, managing partner at Prophecy for a little insight into what a jazz-centric drink would be like, introducing the Round Midnight. “A smooth, sultry blend designed to reflect the moody elegance of jazz in its purest form. The base would be a rich cognac, chosen for its layered notes of dried fruit, spice, and oak, perfect for slow sipping as the music swells. We’d stir it with Amaro Nonino for a bittersweet backbone, a touch of crème de cassis for deep berry warmth, and a few dashes of chocolate bitters to round out the finish.” Reservations are recommended, and dress code is in effect, so leave the flip flops, athleisure attire and ball caps at home.
