Mazacote is a hard-hitting six-piece world/Latin band from Vancouver with deep roots in Nicaragua, Mozambique, and Colombia. Inspired by Afro-Caribbean percussion and tropical party sounds, they play brass-heavy Latin dance beats with a socially conscious message. Featuring the captivating voice of Nicaraguan singer/songwriter David Lopez and a groove-heavy rhythm section with Carlos Arias on bass, Chris Couto on timbales, Robin Layne on congas, Japanese pianist Niho Takase and jazz trumpeter Malcolm Aiken. Julian Jayme Quartet

Julian Jayme is a Montreal-based jazz guitarist who has studied at Capilano University, the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and McGill University. He has played at both the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival and the TD Ottawa International Jazz Festivals as well as venues all over North America. Playing music by composers such as Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson and Herbie Hancock, his quartet features pianist Nick Peck, bassist Jeff Gammon, and drummer Omar Amlani.
