Joined by Canadian jazz all-stars Robi Botos, Larnell Lewis Ted Quinlan, and special guest Shirantha Beddage, this band arrives in Vancouver for a performance at Frankie’s!

Bobby McFerrin: Circlesongs
Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (7pm)
The concert will feature Gimme5 — McFerrin’s newest band of veterans from his Voicestra group Joey Blake, Dave Worm, Rhiannon, and Judi Vinar — and choral ensemble musica intima. The program will be based on Circlesinging, a practice that McFerrin has been honing, assigning vocal parts to his onstage collaborators and audience members.

New York vocalist Kendra Shank and Portland guitarist John Stowell have been having musical conversations for three decades, resulting in a deep synergy. “New York Conversations” – their co-led duo CD dubbed “magical…ingenious…original” by the Wall Street Journal – pushes boundaries with a mix of modern jazz originals, reimagined standards, bossas, folk influences, and improvised pieces.
