Diverse. Awe-inspiring. Surprising. Groovy. All that jazz.
Coastal Jazz has put together a few Spotify playlists to scratch your musical itch and give you a solid preview of what you can expect. Why not follow us on Spotify, and never miss curated lists of the coolest music in town?
First up, it’s the Marquee Series. These crowd-pleasing shows at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre feature something for everyone. Whether it’s the ground-breaking hip-hop group the Wu-Tang Clan, the much anticipated return of the multi-award winning tonight show house band The Roots, or the legendary pianist and composer Herbie Hancock (performing a special concert with a quartet!), you’re sure to find something pleasing.
The Imperial Series offers everything from an eight-piece wonder-band, to a beat scientist, to a young phenom, to stellar triple bills while Five Alarm Funk & Too Many Zooz will funk it up at the Commodore Ballroom.
Our concerts at Performance Works (Granville Island festival hub) and the Innovation Series at The Ironworks make up a cacophony of eclectic sounds and vibes. Including Cactus Truck, Kee Avil, Irreversible Entanglements, Dálava – these artists will knock your socks right off.
Looking for the more straight-ahead? No fear. Frankie’s Jazz Club and the Jazz at Pyatt Hall series have you covered while still pushing the musical envelope.
Broke? Don’t sweat it. There’s free concerts galore! From Granville Island’s 11 days of free concerts on two stages, and our huge free weekends Downtown and at David Lam Park, we’ve got you covered.
