Singer/pianist Elizabeth Shepherd and guitarist Michael Occhipinti have featured in each other’s projects for almost a decade, Elizabeth in Michael’s The Universe of John Lennon, and Michael in Elizabeth’s touring band for her acclaimed albums MONtreal and The Signal. With their new duo album—nominated for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year at this year’s JUNOs—this pairing of two of Canada’s most imaginative, decorated musicians spotlights their telepathic co-writes and creative re-framings of everything from Bruce Cockburn to Nina Simone, while adding subtly otherworldly layers of electronic intrigue.
