Hot off the release of their latest album Lucky Star (to rave reviews), Daphne Roubini, the “First Lady of Uke”, leads her all star band Black Gardenia. The Vancouver-based five-piece has delighted festival and club audiences on two continents with its “London Jazz meets Americana” sound. With their unique blend of vintage jazz, country, folk and blues from the 20s, 30s and 40s, Black Gardenia takes listeners on a journey to an age where cool meant classy and noir was the norm. “Daphne Roubini’s original tunes bring to mind Django Reinhardt’s Gypsy Jazz with Billie Holiday as vocalist.”—Vancouver Sun
