Join multi-faceted Vancouver pianist Sharon for the city’s longest running jazz jam. Sessions at The Pat brings together many of the finest jazz musicians in the city.

Trading Places: Un Échange (Modulus Festival)
Two of Montreal’s finest headline a night of improvisation. Together with leading Vancouver players, visiting musicians Ida Toninato (saxophone) and Émilie Girard-Charest (cello), will fill the Roundhouse with unexpected sounds and musical energy. Presented in collaboration with Western Front New Music, Coastal Jazz, NOW Society, and Montreal’s Suoni Per Il Popolo.

In honour of the 60th anniversary of the birth of Brazil’s esteemed Bossa Nova musical movement, Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre Society (VLACC) presents a dazzling concert showcasing Brazil’s multi-faceted musical culture. Created by internationally renowned percussionist Sal Ferreras, an ensemble of award-winning musicians and dancers will ignite the Playhouse stage with some of Brazil’s most infectious musical styles.

Passion For Justice 2018 – Pivot Foundation Fundraiser with Queer as Funk with Dawn Pemberton

The Pivot Foundation’s annual blowout celebration and fundraiser, Passion for Justice, is back for its 14th year! Back by popular demand, Queer as Funk will be belting out classic funk, soul, and Motown hits, and this year will be joined by the “New Queen of Canadian Soul” Dawn Pemberton. There will be music, dancing, food, drinks, and prizes to be won, and all for a good cause.

Steelin’ in the Years

With over 130 albums to date as an accompanist, Colligan has worked with a long list of jazz greats. With John Lee on bass and Jesse Cahill on drums.

Six-time Juno nominee John Stetch pushes the boundaries of his jazz and classical training: from Mozart to Ukrainian folk music to the theme from The Love Boat. Vulneraville’s music ranges from energetic swing to world/pop suites to classical-ish cinematic excursions. Steve Kortyka is a saxophonist who has toured with Lady Gaga, Philippe Lemm is Holland’s most in-demand drummer, and Ben Tiberio has already played bass in the top clubs of New York City.

Toronto-based drummer Ethan Ardelli brings his quartet to Frankie’s to promote the release of its debut album “The Island of Form”.  Recorded in New York City at Sear Sound with legendary recording engineer James Farber,  the album features Luis Deniz on alto saxophone, Chris Donnelly on piano and Devon Henderson on bass.
