Bradley/McGillivray Blues Band
Frankie’s Jazz Club (8pm)
Led by groove, improv and raw, unadulterated emotion, Bradley/McGillivray blend blues, jazz, Motown and gospel into their own hip brand of soul. Ruth’s a singer you don’t want to miss-captivating, authentic and entertaining, with a wicked set of pipes. Her knock-you-flat vocals are nicely balanced by Sheldon’s tasteful, understated guitar, and the whole sound is rounded out by an inventive rhythm section.

John Stetch
Old Crow Coffee Co. (7pm)
Steinway Artist John Stetch is a 6-time Juno Nominee, and has written over 50 compositions for solo piano, jazz combo and more recently some classical chamber formats. He has worked at the top clubs of New York City including Mezzrow, Smalls, Smoke and the Jazz Standard and was a member of Rufus Reid’s group for nearly a decade.

Jasper Sloan Yip’s Post Meridiem Vinyl & Video Release
Red Gate Revue Stage (7:30pm)
Jasper & Co.’s 2017 chamber pop opus, Post Meridiem, is being issued on vinyl alongside a brand new video. Join to celebrate the occasion. Copies are limited to 300, pressed on 180g vinyl, and will include a digital download for an unreleased bonus song recorded. Musician Wallgrin will also hit the stage.


Flora Scott Quintet CD Release
Frankie’s Jazz Club (8pm)
Flora Scott is releasing her third CD which is comprised of all original tunes composed by Scott. The genre includes blends of  jazz, Latin, singer-songwriter and middle-eastern jazz. There are 12 international musicians on the recording, which was produced partly in Canada and partly at a studio just outside of London, England. With Nick Apivor vibes and percussion, Graham Clark bass, Buff Allen on drums and Victor Noriega on piano.

Dawn Pemberton – Gospel and Vintage Soul

Walk the labyrinth to the rich, powerful vocals of Dawn Pemberton. Dawn brings to the labyrinth her extensive background in gospel singing and gets to share an “unplugged,” intimate set in this sacred space.

Natasha D’Agostino and Sharon Minemoto Duo
Vancouver Community College (8pm)
Vocalist, Natasha D’Agostino and pianist, Sharon Minemoto will perform a selection of music by Fred Hersch/Norma Winstone, some originals and a few standards. This concert will take place in the VCC Auditorium.

Hailed as a “sizzling guitar goddess,” by The NYC Jazz Record, Sheryl Bailey has transcended the familiar trio of organ, guitar, and drums and raised it to an exciting new plane. Fronted by Sheryl’s guitar with Ian Froman on drums and Ron Oswasnki on organ, The Sheryl Bailey 3 offers a new spin on the popular organ trio format pioneered by past guitar masters, Wes Montgomery and Pat Martino.

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox

Postmodern Jukebox, also widely known by the acronym PMJ, is a rotating musical collective founded by arranger and pianist Scott Bradlee in 2011. PMJ is known for reworking popular modern music into different vintage genres, especially early 20th century forms such as swing and jazz.

Artists like Ella Fitzgerald and even Judy Garland were blowing away listeners of all ages with their talent, incredible tone and sense of swing from their teenage years and beyond. This phenomenon has led to an ongoing output of incredible female singers over the decades, that continues today with Vancouver-based, 16 year-old singer, musician and composer, Maya Rae. With John Lee on piano, and Luis Rudner on bass.
