A second-year student at the University of Toronto, David Hodgson is quickly establishing himself as a unique and passionate musician. This show brings together some of BC’s most talented musicians, with Bjorn Kriel on piano, Dan Howard on bass, and Miles Wong on drums. The quartet will be playing original compositions, as well as music from composers such as Billy Strayhorn and Lennie Tristano. There may even be a few Seasonal tunes to celebrate winter festivities!

Van Django is an acoustic string ensemble made up of four of Canada’s most talented and eclectic musicians: violinist Cameron Wilson, guitarist Budge Schachte, guitarist/cellist Finn Manniche and bassist Brent Gubbels. The music is punchy, driving and rhythmically inventive, combining a wealth of musical influences while maintaining their roots in the gypsy jazz made famous by the 1930s Quintet of the Hot Club of France.

He has an incredible ability to swing, his improvisations have direction and meaning, and his guitar sound knocks your socks off. Clear, warm, and singing from top to bottom. Like a great grand piano whose eighty-eight keys sound equal and true, Peter’s rich sonority is present no matter what register he plays in. With Nick Peck piano, Paul Rushka bass and Jesse Cahill drums.
