Vancouver-based guitarist and composer Tom Wherrett has played with Star System, Dave Say Quartet, and the John Gross/Campbell Ryga Quintet, in addition to leading his own groups ElkHorn and Lonely Astronaut. His newest project spins compelling narratives without a single word being spoken or sung. Key to Wherrett’s implicit instrumentals is his blend of written and improvised parts, and the great players he’s brought together to do the blending: pianist Cat Toren, Nicholas Bracewell drums, and David Caballero bass.
