Vancouver-based Ukrainian jazz and classical accordionist Taras Luka’s 2023 album Part of the Journey is an exciting fusion of contemporary jazz and pan-Latin styles for accordion and septet. Luka has worked extensively as a composer and music director for theatre, while his “Choral of Freedom” for symphony orchestra, choir, and soprano has been performed by Victoria Symphony Orchestra. His local band features fantastic players, including pianist Dean Thiessen, bassist Daniel Howard, and Jamison Ko on drums.
