For over three decades bassist/composer/bandleader Steve Lloyd Smith has written more than 125 compositions, including 15 suites, while building an expansive body of work as a recording artist. Across his career, he has collaborated with some of New York’s most celebrated musicians, including Richie Beirach, Billy Hart, Adam Rogers, Aaron Parks, and Marcus Gilmore. His recordings as a leader span projects such as Chantal’s Way, Roll, Breathe, and Sins & Virtues, each showcasing different phases of his evolving creative vision. Most recently, Smith released Three Circles in 2024, featuring Dayna Stephens, Victor Gould, and Marcus Gilmore.
