That someone so young can so completely inhabit the timeless classics of the Great American Songbook borders on the supernatural. NPR calls her debut album “imposing”, the JazzTimes critics poll just named her Best New Artist, and she won the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition three years ago, at age 19. Velvet-voiced rising star Samara Joy is scarily good—and the hairs on the backs of our necks are all the better for it! She’s joined by Italian-born NYC guitarist Pasquale Grosso—who Pat Metheny recently called “the best guitar player I’ve heard in maybe my entire life”—and his trio-mates Sam Edwards bass and Keith Balla drums.
