Peggy Lee’s Echo Painting plus Joshua Zubot & Strings
Winter Jazz
“Combines the timeless and the otherworldly in equal measure,”—(The Georgia Straight)
From incendiary improvisation to achingly beautiful melodic compositions, cellist/composer Peggy Lee takes anything she touches to a deeper and more artful level. The Coastal Jazz-commissioned Echo Painting brings together some of Vancouver’s most active and interesting improvisers—all highly accomplished leaders of their own projects—to draw multi-layered, melodically rich connections between musical generations.
With Brad Turner trumpet, John Bentley tenor/soprano saxophone, Dylan van der Schyff drums, James Meger bass, Cole Schmidt guitar, John Paton tenor saxophone, Meredith Bates violin, Roderick Murray trombone, Bradshaw Pack pedal steel guitar.
Violinist Joshua Zubot continues to turn heads as a masterful musician and composer. Playing everything from jazz to bluegrass to electronic to rock, he is a virtuosic performer of spectacular diversity.
This string-stravaganza will also feature Meredith Bates violin, Jesse Zubot violin/viola, Peggy Lee cello, and James Meger bass.
