Noah Franche-Nolan Trio
Noah Franche-Nolan is a Toronto-based pianist, improviser, and composer who has shared the bandstand with musicians such as Jim Vivian, Peter Bernstein, Dick Oats, Kirk MacDonald, Andrew Downing, and Nick Fraser. He has performed at the Toronto Jazz Festival, the Ottawa Jazz Festival, the Halifax Jazz Festival, and the Port Hope Jazz Festival.
He recently opened for the Dave Young Trio and the Penderecki String Quartet at the Perry Sound “Festival of Sound” with a set of original piano compositions. In the Spring of 2018, Noah recorded a duo album with Toronto Saxophonist Harrison Argatof, entitled “Dreaming Hears the Still”. This record features original compositions by both Noah and Harrison, and explores the blending of improvisation and through-composed musical passages. As a composer, Noah has studied jazz composition and piano with David Braid, and classical composition with Gary Kulesha and Sasha Rapoport. He continuously strives to blend the lines between the musical and improv vocabulary of Western Classical Music and Modern Jazz in his own compositions.
