Mazacote is a hard-hitting six-piece world/Latin band with deep roots in Nicaragua, Mozambique, and Colombia. Inspired by Afro-Caribbean percussion and tropical party sounds with a socially conscious message, Mazacote features the captivating voice of Nicaraguan singer/songwriter David Lopez. With a groove-heavy rhythm section featuring Carlos Arias bass, Chris Couto timbales, Robin Layne congas, Japanese pianist Niho Takase, and trumpeter Jeremy Vint. Mazacote’s latest album Nueva Era (TrebleFive Records) was nominated as World Album of the Year at the 2016 WCM Awards.
