Inspired by exploratory artists like Bill Frisell and Mary Halvorson, guitarist Madeleine Elkins’s intricate compositions start at the crossroads of jazz, folk, and rock, then move freely from there. With bassist William Chernoff and drummer Kevin Romain, Elkins merges contemporary jazz with her love of modern bluegrass and post-punk guitar sounds. A member of Sister Jazz Orchestra and Spindle!, she’s performed with Mali Obomsawin, Wayne Horvitz, and Kaïa Kater. Her debut, Brighton Train, comes out this year on the Infidels Jazz label.
