John has been playing with the greats of the Jazz and entertainment world since 1961. This extensive list includes Harry James, Stan Kenton, Johnny Mathis, Lionel Hampton, Shelly Manne, Toshiko Akioshi, Stevie Wonder, Hugh Fraser, and many others. He has been featured at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival many times and has been a welcome addition to the Vancouver Jazz scene since 2016. He is a unique and masterful musician who loves to play songs that are beautiful and interesting.

Bill Coon was the recipient of the 2009 National Jazz Awards, Guitarist of the Year. He leads several of his own groups including the BC Double Quartet whose recording, Departure with Brad Turner on trumpet and violinist Cameron Wilson was nominated for a 2019 Western Canadian Music Award. He is featured on three Western Canadian Music Award winning recordings, including the genre-bending Jasmine Jazz, winner of the Best Instrumental Recording of 2023.
