Since 2019, the passionate pianist/composer Jimi James Fraser has called on a shifting cast of Vancouver Jazz House alumni for his sublime, energetic Sextet. Taking cues from Art Blakey, The VEJI (Vancouver Ensemble of Jazz Improvisation), Horace Silver, and other great multi-horn lineups of the 50s and 60s, the band absolutely cooks on originals and new arrangements of classic tunes. With Tamas Balai alto sax, Spencer Drody trumpet, Conor Lum tenor sax, Brad Pearson bass, and Arvind Ramdas drums.
