Hot on the heels of Omega (the #1 Jazz Album of 2020, per the New York Times), saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins dreams big with his latest Blue Note release, The 7th Hand, a seven-movement suite of new originals that explore relationships between presence and nothingness. Wilkins’ music is filled with empathy and conviction, bonding arcs of melody and lamentation to plumes of space and breath, boldly brought to life by his quartet, featuring Micah Thomas piano, Richard Rosato bass, and Kweku Sumbry drums.
