FREEDOM MUZIK
From the curatorial mind of bassist/host Colin Cowan, FREEDOM MUZIK is a diverse free improvisation series. Musicians’ names are drawn from a chalice to create short improvs for duos, trios, quartets, etc. In the second half of the concert, the full ensemble joins forces to create a longer improvised suite. Participants include France’s Sylvain Darriforcq drums and Valentin Ceccaldi cello, American trumpeter Jaimie Branch, Sweden’s Mats Äleklint trombone and Andreas Werliin drums, and Vancouver improvisers Lisa Cay Miller piano, Peggy Lee cello, Giorgio Magnanensi piano/electronics/visuals, Elisa Thorn harp, Joshua Zubot violin, and Sam Davidson clarinet/EWI.
Door entry: $10 cash only
Part of the Weekend Innovation Pass: Only $32 for all six concerts!
