Fawn Fritzen and the fellas
Award winning vocalist with a feminist flair
Fawn Fritzen once disdained the label “feminist”, but time and experience reshaped her thinking. In exploring the power of music to form and shape society, Fawn delves into the history of jazz, to powerful voices such as Bessie Smith, Anita O’Day, and Nina Simone. Simultaneously, she has created powerful new songs of her own, centred in candid storytelling. Fawn has two studio albums under her belt, and is the winner of the 2014 Julian Award of Excellence for Emerging Jazz Artists. She is joined by David Restivo on piano, John Lee on bass, and Kelby MacNayr on drums.
