Cat Toren’s HUMAN KIND – Early Show
JUNO Award-winning pianist/composer Cat Toren’s “beautiful and adventurous” (CBC) HUMAN KIND channels Alice Coltrane and the free-form, socially conscious jazz of the late ’60s, making a powerful and urgent case for jazz’s expressive ability to uplift, engage, and unite. With local heavy-hitters Dave Say saxophone, Elisa Thorn harp, Aram Bajakian oud, Tommy Babin bass, and Dan Gaucher drums, the empathic Vancouver-born, Brooklyn-based Toren uses atmospheric abstraction and harmonic layering to mix deep human warmth with creative fire!
