Bill Coon has been an important part of the Canadian and West Coast jazz community for more than three decades as a performer, composer, and educator. He has performed alongside jazz legends including Jimmy Heath, Peter Bernstein, and Dr. Lonnie Smith, led acclaimed projects such as the Bill Coon Trio and BC Double Quartet, and released numerous celebrated recordings. A recipient of the 2009 national Jazz Award for Guitarist of the Year, Coon also teaches at the VSO School of Music and continues an active career in performance, composition, and mentorship.
