Bill Coon plays Grant Green’s Idle Moments
Blue Note is unquestionably the most iconic jazz label there has ever been–maybe the most iconic record label of all time. The label’s first press release (1939) states, “Blue Note records are concerned with identifying its impulse, not its sensational and commercial adornments.” A pioneer in jazz’s golden age, Blue Note served as a breeding ground for legends such as Sidney Bechet, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Kenny Burrell, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, Sonny Rollins and Horace Silver. Now approaching its 80th year, Blue Note remains a powerful and mighty force in the jazz world.
