Amirtha Kidambi / Julia Úlehla / Darius Jones
A key figure in New York’s experimental scene, vocalist Amirtha Kidambi (Elder Ones, Mary Halvorson) rethinks the building blocks of music through bold improv with a host of innovators. Simply put, “the syllables she sings are express lanes to intensity” (New York Times), while American alto saxophonist Darius Jones “is too good and too different to plug into any kind of pigeonhole” (JazzTimes), and Vancouver-based vocalist/composer, Dálava co-leader, and former New Yorker Julia Úlehla is a “captivating Moravian magician” (Downbeat), whose approach is informed by opera training, ethnomusicology, ritual, and a carefully nurtured sense of wonder.
