Imagine a ’70s prog band, a salsa group, and a string quartet going on a road trip together. Composer/guitarist Alvaro Rojas calls on some of Vancouver’s finest creative players to add elements of Afro-Peruvian rhythms and forms to his harmonically adventurous, textural pieces. With Peggy Lee cello, Chris Gestrin keyboards, Meredith Bates violin, James Meger bass, Sam Cartwright drums, and Liam MacDonald percussion, Rojas will dig into tunes from the group’s dynamic debut album.
