Craig Scott Quintet play Milt Jackson’s ‘In A New Setting’
Vibraphonist Craig Scott teams up again with tenor saxophonist Cory Weeds to present selections from the Milt Jackson, McCoy Tyner album In A New Setting. The Scott/Weeds collaboration, the acclaimed Introducing The Craig Scott Quintet on Cellar Live spent nine weeks on the Jazz Week Charts, and presented music that both Craig and Cory drew from Ray Brown, Cedar Walton, and other great bebop players and composers as conceptual influences. When Milt Jackson collaborated with pianist McCoy Tyner, the result was a more post-bop approach in both harmonic and melodic concept. Paying homage to this landmark 1964 album, Cory and Craig are joined by pianist Chris Gestrin, bassist Paul Rushka, and drummer Jesse Cahill.
