SUMMARY:Kate Wyatt Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Originally from Victoria\, pianist/composer Kate Wyatt is now considered one of Montreal’s top jazz players\, with “musical ideas and a style of playing and writing that is on par with the current jazz piano elite” like Brad Mehldau and Fred Hersch (PANM360). She’s performed with Kenny Wheeler\, Jay Clayton\, and the Orchestre national de jazz de Montreal\, and recently made a definitive opening statement with her debut album Artifact. Wyatt’s effortless chemistry with Lex French trumpet\, Adrian Vedady bass and Jim Doxas drums is “playful\, contemplative\, probing\, intense\, passionate—all contained in a deep pocket” (Smaller Streams). \nOcean Art Works is sponsored in part by CMHC Granville Island and is part of the Granville Island Jazz series.
