DESCRIPTION:Louis Quinn is comprised of established top Vancouver jazz\, funk\, and blues musicians Doug Louie on piano and Dave Quinn on clarinet and saxophone. Patriarch Lloyd Arntzen discovered the music of Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong as a boy\, lighting a fire in him that burns brightly to this day. Blessed with a golden voice and marvelous clarinet tone\, he passed the love of music onto son Tom piano/vocals\, daughter-in-law Georgina vocals\, and grandsons Evan clarinet/saxophone/vocals and Arnt guitar/banjo/vocals\, who return from New York.

DESCRIPTION:Based in Vancouver\, Miles Black is a highly respected career musician bringing an enormous wealth of musical experience and expertise to most every facet of the music industry.  First known as one of Canada’s most accomplished jazz pianists\, Miles is also highly acclaimed and sought after as an arranger\, producer\, composer\, session musician\, guitarist\, vocalist\, bassist\, saxophonist\, songwriter\, and musical theatre director.  Adding to that\, he has worked as a music therapist and collegiate music instructor. Especially in Vancouver\, Miles Black is well know as the “first call’ when musicians are looking for top professional enhancements to their projects. \nWith Miles Hill – bass and Buff Allen – drums \nABOUT JAZZ FOR BARB SERIES AND THE ITALIAN CULTURAL CENTREBarbara Fudge was a passionate and loyal fan of jazz music. She could be seen all over the city at various jazz events talking and laughing with her friends\, mingling with the musicians and enjoying a glass of fine wine. Her personality and laugh were contagious and although no longer with us\, her larger than life spirit shines bright. We are so happy to be able to honour her with our ‘Jazz For Barb’ Series.

DESCRIPTION:Kuya (pronounced KOO-ya) is the Tagalog word for ‘brother’\, commonly used as a sign of respect to an elder sibling or cousin. \nKuya Quartet explores music from the Philippines; folk melodies\, classics from Filipino composers and new originals inspired by the genre. A veritable plethora of possibilities for re-imagined and adventurous interpretations. Noriega’s first foray into this concept materialized into his 2006 award-winning piano trio release “Alay.” \nKuya Quartet is a continuation of this journey with a new band\, different instrumentation\, and a fresh take on the traditional. \nFeaturing Victor Noriega piano\, David Sikula guitar\, James Meger bass\, and Raphael Geronimo percussion.
