DESCRIPTION:To mark the 100th anniversary of the great Charlie Parker’s birth\, five of Canada’s finest jazz players come together for intrepid interpretations of the saxophone maestro’s music. \nIn his short life\, Bird revolutionized jazz\, setting a high bar for harmonic and rhythmic complexity\, rich textures\, and dizzying virtuosity. As Miles Davis said\, “you can tell the history of jazz in four words: Louis Armstrong. Charlie Parker.” Campbell Ryga saxophone\, Brad Turner trumpet\, Sharon Minemoto piano\, André Lachance bass\, and John Lee drums do their part to celebrate that rich history.
