DESCRIPTION:Vibrating ecstatically between composition and improvisation\, this absolute treat of a double bill features groups performing music from upcoming releases on the soon-to-be relaunched Drip Audio label. \nJosh Zubot and Strings\nViolinist/composer Josh Zubot’s omnivorous talent alights on jazz\, classical\, bluegrass\, folk\, musique actuelle\, and the avant-garde’s back-40. A restless adventurer and highly-detailed writer/arranger\, the veteran of Montréal’s vibrant music scene (Patrick Watson\, Land of Kush) has found a perfect home in the genre-defying West Coast improv community since relocating in 2017. With Meredith Bates violin\, Jesse Zubot violin/viola\, Peggy Lee cello\, and James Meger bass\, Josh Zubot’s vanguard Strings ensemble bursts with conviction\, emotion\, experimentation\, and power. \nSICK BOSS\n“SICK BOSS consistently delves deep beyond musical boundaries\, blurring borders between genres\, and scenes.”– Discorder Magazine \nSICK BOSS draws influence from the textural expansiveness of creative improvisation\, the intimacy of folk\, and the bombastic electric power of Hendrix.
