He also spearheads—and absolutely nails—a dizzying number of creative collaborations with heavy-hitters like Matthew Shipp\, Mats Gustafsson\, and Marc Ribot. Here\, the JUNO Award winner creates edgy\, intricate\, and insistent sounds with pianist Matt Mitchell (John Hollenbeck\, Tim Berne) and drummer Jim Black (Human Feel\, AlasNoAxis)\, two massively influential legends of the downtown New York scene who share with Grdina “an attunement to radical possibility at any moment\, and the expansive technical vocabulary to justify any digression” (WBGO).
