Students Learn from the pros!  During their 10-day residency at the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival, students rehearse intensively with skilled peers and experienced pros. Hailed as “one of the greatest living flutists in jazz,” conductor Nicole Mitchell shares her tremendous musical knowledge, skill and groove sensibilities with the kids.

Interactive Tom Lee Music Workshops expose students to some of the innovative artists on local and global scene. Join us! These instructive workshops are also free and open to the general public. TD High School Jazz Intensive Band Members are also invited to take in select TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival shows…hand-picked to instruct and inspire.  What a fun way to experience new musical ideas!

Scholarships! Participants are eligible for scholarship opportunities, including the Dal Richards Scholarship Fund, The Fraser MacPherson Scholarship Fund and generous awards from our Sponsors TD.  

Composition Contest!  Where else does a High School student get to write music for a Big Band performance at a world-class Jazz Festival?  Budding composers submit their tune for consideration. Conductor Nicole Mitchell will arrange the winning composition for the Final Feature Performance at David Lam Park Mainstage, July 3.

AUDITIONS FOR 2012…
Want to audition for next year?  Auditions will be open to students (Grades 10, 11 and 12), from across the Lower Mainland. Application forms will be shared and submitted again in the spring of 2012.
