JAZZTOPAD Presents:

“A vivacious, next-level start-up” (All About Jazz), the Obara International Quartet is a propulsive new combo formed out of the Take Five Europe program. Featuring two of Norway’s most sought after players in Ole Morten Vågan (The Deciders) bass, and Gard Nilssen (Bushman’s Revenge) drums, and Polish innovators Dominik Wania piano and Maciej Obara alto sax, the group is a “fascinating blend of thoughtfulness, freedom, passion, superb improvising skills and structural discipline” (Herald Scotland). Pulsing, narrative free jazz with shades of Ornette Coleman, Lee Konitz, and ECM-style Scandinavian jazz make for a sensational pan-European combo.

JUNE 28 Roundhouse-Studio (Gard Nilssen workshop) 3pm Free
JUNE 28 Roundhouse-Studio (Maciej Obara workshop) 4:30pm Free

Thanks to Polish Institute of Adam Mickiewicz, For Tune, Poland Norwegian Fund for Performing Arts, Jelenia Gora, Poland.
