MAYA RAE CD RELEASE (benefit for Covenant House) - SOLD OUT

Time 8:00 pm

Listening to Maya Rae’s Sapphire Birds, it is difficult to believe that the singer is just 14 years old. Her vocalizing is versatile and inventive, her originals are sophisticated, and she sounds very mature, making her age seem irrelevant. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Maya Rae says, “My Mom claims that I was singing from birth, but I officially started taking lessons when I was in third grade.” Maya first sang in public when she was ten and that performance included “Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera, of which a jazzed up version is included on her debut album. She has been busking and performing regularly for locals and tourists at Granville Island since she was 12. With Miles Black on piano, André Lachance on bass, Joel Fountain on drums, Cory Weeds on tenor saxophone and Vince Mai on trumpet and flugelhorn
