Communications Consultant

Reporting to the Media Director and Marketing Director, the consultant will work with the team consisting of staff and other consultants, media and suppliers.

Contract Period: 3 days/week from August 1 - December 15, 2015 (with possible renewal for 3-5 days/week from January – August, 2016)


• Assist with implementation of PR/Media campaigns, ensuring timely execution, tracking progress and gathering materials and analytics
• Website updates
• Plan and coordinate the delivery of event announcements and e-newsletters
• Liaise and coordinate with digital/social media teams
• Duties including updating of databases, media materials
• Coordinating media and artist interviews
• Assisting with writing of materials including but not limited to listings, MC scripts, speeches, text for materials
• Coordinating festival MC schedules
• Power Point presentations
• Tracking and measurement and archiving of editorial content
• Provide leadership, direction, coaching, support and training to all team members when/where applicable
• Assist in the organization of media events


• A proven track record for successfully delivering PR campaigns
• Fully digital and social media conversant
• Excellent and accurate verbal and written communication skills in English
• Enthusiastic and energetic
• Outstanding communication skills across a variety of mediums
• Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities
• Excellent planning and organization skills with a strong attention to detail
• Knowledge and experience of online strategies, HTML
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver against tight deadlines
• Confident, outgoing, team player with a proactive can do attitude
• Willingness to learn and to share expertise
• Experience in dealing with media
• An ability to build good working relationships quickly
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to supervise junior marketing staff
• Multilingualism is an asset but must have strong English skills

Proficiency in the use of:
• Fully proficient in all Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel
• Knowledge and experience of Database Management
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and web management (NationBuilder) an asset

• A degree or diploma in marketing, business or communications

• At least 3 - 5 years' experience in communications/PR
• Online communication/social media experience a must
• Entertainment/event industry experience not required but a significant asset
