It's an August treat at Frankie's Jazz Club, Dylan Cramer is performing in various configurations each Wednesday this month during Happy Hour (4-6pm). That's five weeks in a row of mid-week live jazz downtown. And, what's more, there is no cover!
We asked Dylan what to expect from his Artist In Residency that starts today.
"It is a great thrill to be the featured artist at Frankie's for the month of August. I will be working with my long time pianist, Ron Johnston, as we celebrate 20 years of playing together, and I will also be working with Michael Creber and Steve Holy, two gifted musicians I really enjoy working beside. The idea of having a weekly gig for the artist residency program is a wonderful opportunity to develop a rapport with my musicians and to connect with the audience, as they get to know my style and musical tastes. I am really looking forward to these Wednesdays in August!" – Dylan Cramer
Often likened to Paul Desmond, Stan Getz, and his idol Sonny Criss, Vancouver alto saxophonist Dylan Cramer has been lighting up rooms for over 40 years with his distinctive take on hot swing, blues drenched ballads, and fiery Latin tunes. Cramer released his fifth album earlier this year, Blue Prelude, which features inspired interpretations of pop hits by George Michael, Stevie Wonder, and Amy Winehouse.
Frankie's has an exceptional menu of Happy Hour appetizers as well as craft beers, cocktails, and select BC VQA and Italian wines. Doors are at 4pm and last call for food and drink specials is at 5:30pm.
