About the Artists
Victoria’s Aidan Knight is a singer/songwriter on the rise. With two acclaimed albums, Versicolour and Friendly Fires, Knight shows he’s a musical adventurer at heart. His band mates utilize bowed glockenspiel, flugelhorns, viola, gritty spring reverb, and live looping. On Versicolour he presented a powerful debut collection of songs and landed on year-end best-of lists; he’s toured and performed with Patrick Watson, Dan Mangan, and Tegan & Sara; and he’s won awards from CBC Radio. On follow-up EP Friendly Fire, Aidan stretches his wildly creative orchestral folk-pop both sonically and lyrically. A real trailblazer.
This seven-piece Vancouver-based band is hot! Their shared female/male vocals, poetic lyricism and energetic live shows have sparked comparisons to fellow Canadian artists Feist, Arcade Fire and Ohbijou. Shortly after forming in 2009 the band released a debut EP entitled The Inventing Letters that quickly drew enthusiastic response from the press worldwide. The current album, Sleep to Grow, sparkles with brilliant arrangements, unique instrumentation, multiple music styles, soft anthems and sweeping crescendos. There’s a lot to like with this potent mix of vocals, guitars and brass.
