If you scrolled far enough down to read about the events happening other than Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga you likely noticed that Coastal Jazz is now presenting the Cellar Jazz Series. This has likely raised more than a few eyebrows and I have been peppered with queries and questions.
I have always had a ton of respect for Coastal Jazz and their efforts for jazz in this city. I’m very very excited to be working with them on the Cellar Jazz Series and am anticipating a long and fruitful relationship with them. Working thus far with the staff, especially the senior staff; Mike Forrester (the new Executive Director), Ken Pickering (Artistic Director) and John Orysik (Media Director) has been absolutely wonderful as has the other staff in the office.
There have been many questions as to the artistic direction that The Cellar Jazz Series will take and if it will change now that I’m under the Coastal Jazz umbrella. I can assure you that I will continue to do the same things that I did at The Cellar and The Cellar Jazz Society. The series will highlight local bands headlining shows, local musicians joining out of towners as well as international headlining acts. I’am really excited about the first 4 shows that have been announced. You can visit COASTAL JAZZ’S website or you can continue to visit the CELLAR JAZZ SOCIETY website to get all the information on the Cellar Jazz Series.
I will also continue to use the mailing list as a tool to promote the shows and you can be assured that this list will not be given to Coastal Jazz until specific permission is asked. The plan is for me to continue to use the list to communicate more directly with fans of The Cellar and the Cellar Jazz Society for the foreseeable future.
I would like to thank all of you for the wonderful support over the last 10 months or so and I look forward to seeing you at our future shows.
