Bandleader and bass/guitar powerhouse, Michael League of Snarky Puppy dishes on after show meals, strange touring experiences & the best thing about Vancouver.
Michael League: A tie between late-night Ramen in Tokyo and pintxos in San Sebastian, Spain.
CJ: The band has performed with artists such as Erykah Badu, Marcus Miller, Justin Timeberlake, Kirk Franklin, Ari Hoenig, Roy Hargrove and Snoop Dog. Who was the most uniquely interesting to work with and why?
ML: Each artist has their own world- musically, socially, etc. I think the variety in the people we've worked with makes us more open to exploration in our own music.
CJ: What is the strangest experience you’ve ever encountered while touring?
ML: There are too many! If I had to single one out, it probably would have to be the time that Andre 3000 came to one of our gigs at a tiny bar in Athens, Georgia, 8 years ago. He was surrounded by sorority girls and bought one of every single thing we had at the merch table. Then a drunk college student jumped on stage, pulled down his pants, and got arrested. Not the weirdest experience, but definitely not a normal one.
CJ: Complete this sentence: Vancouver has the best ______ in the world!
ML: I don't think I could answer that without incriminating myself...
