“Big reveal for highly anticipated 30th edition of Vancouver Summer kickoff event”

Francois Marchand of the Vancouver Sun reported on the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival announcement made yesterday.  The story went far and wide to announce our awesome Concerts in Vancouver for the festival this June 18 – July 1.  There will definitely be a lot of things to do this summer!!!

He went on to report:

“Powerhouse artists Erykah Badu and The Roots have been announced to be performing at the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival this summer.

Badu is one of the great dames of American soul and hip-hop. Her recent pair of New Amerykah albums have garnered critical acclaim across the globe.

Philadelphia hip-hop crew The Roots are best known nowadays for being the house band on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The group led by Afro-sporting drummer Questlove is explosive in concert, blending jazz, soul and big band grooves.

Badu and The Roots will be headlining separate concerts at the Orpheum on June 23 and June 30, respectively. Both collaborated on the landmark 1999 album Things Fall Apart, recording Grammy-winning single You Got Me.

The festival also announced a handful of other performances including trumpeter Chris Botti performing at the River Rock Casino in Richmond on June 28, as well as two more Vogue Theatre concerts: Brazilian guitarist and vocalist Joyce Moreno (June 19) and Vancouver blues duo The Harpoonist and The Axe Murderer (June 27).

Topping things off, the festival also revealed the 11 concerts composing its Performance Works series.
