Black Gardenia takes listeners on a journey to an age where cool meant classy and noir was the norm. Vancouver's "First Lady of Uke" Daphne Roubini sings and plays the ukulele in her band, Black Gardenia, with a darkly-relaxed blend of vintage jazz, country, folk, and blues from the 20's, 30's and 40's. The group's original tunes bring to mind Django Rheinhardt’s gypsy jazz with Billie Holiday as vocalist. With Chris Davis trumpet, Paul Pigat guitar, Brent Gubbles bass, and Andrew Smith guitar.
