A major force in Vancouver’s creative music community, guitarist and composer Tony Wilson is one of the most original guitar stylists on the Canadian scene. His compositions tap into the whole history of jazz and blues, shifting from Leadbelly’s moaning sound to Albert Ayler-like combustion, and they’ve been performed by a wide range of artists such as Hard Rubber Orchestra, Myra Melford and Zubot and Dawson. Wilson will be writing new material for this group (Jesse Zubot violin, Dan Gaucher and Skye Brooks drums) that he describes as “roots music meets Ornette [Coleman].”
