Ola Onabule
OLA ONABULÉ returns to British Columbia for his third visit to Canada after his magnificent Canadian debut in 2009 at the TD Vancouver Jazz Festival, setting the groundwork for his return to the lower mainland. Sometimes referred to as soul-jazz singer, the Nigerian performer from London, England, sports an arresting artistic identity. As The Italian Vogue states, Ola has an “impressive physical presence, tangible charisma, [and] typical British elegance…His vocal extension easily reaches the most emotional extremes, from an intimate whisper to an earth-shaking explosion.”
Ola's live performances have earned him the reputation as one of the world's finest vocalists and entertainers. Ola has performed at some of the most prestigious jazz festivals and concert halls, including performances with Germany's world-famous WDR Radio Big Band, SWR Radio Big Band, The German Film Orchestra, plus many performances at historical jazz venues including NYC's legendary Blue Note and Ronnie Scott's in London. Ola's international career has spanned over twenty years during which he has sung with Diane Reeves, Al Jarreau, Roberta Flack, Joe Zawinul, Natalie Cole and Roy Hargrove.
