This is the kind of international collaboration that has brought the Festival acclaim. We love to match Vancouver artists with prominent outsiders to create exciting new synergies. Trumpeter JP Carter is best known for his stellar work with Vancouver’s genre-defying Inhabitants. Extraordinary cellist/composer Peggy Lee plays an expansive role in the local scene as a bandleader and relentlessly riveting improviser. London-based saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock has wide musical interests having worked with Kenny Wheeler, Evan Parker, the Brazilian quartet Nois4, and the contemporary classical quartet The Continuum Ensemble. American Tyshawn Sorey has been called “the most brilliant composer/percussionist of his generation.”
