“Lloyd is one of the greats, rather like Joan Miró in modern art, he has no peer save himself. Music of total transport and delight.”—Jazzwise

Although visits to Vancouver have been altogether too rare, his 2014 festival performance was one of our brightest moments that year. Since 1960, legendary saxophonist Charles Lloyd has lent his adventurous, lyrical sound to everyone from Cannonball Adderley and Keith Jarrett to The Beach Boys. His early experiments blending jazz and rock charted a path that led to the electric fusion of Miles Davis and Headhunters, while his exploration of spirituality and transcendental meditation added a new depth to his sound. Lloyd moves from hard swing to subtle ballads, blending gorgeous textures and Eastern influences. He's touring in support of his fantastic 2015 Blue Note release "Wild Man Dance". With Gerald Clayton piano, Joe Sanders bass, Eric Harland drums.
