Amanda Tosoff is a B.C-raised Toronto-based pianist, composer, and bandleader, with five albums to her credit. Along her fascinating career path, Amanda has performed with such internationally recognized artists as Ingrid Jensen, Emilie-Claire Barlow, Phil Dwyer, and many more. She has also opened for jazz legends Bobby Hutcherson, Renee Rosnes, Oliver Jones, and Brazilian singer Luciana Souza.  On her brand new CD Words, Amanda takes an adventurous leap beyond the confines of conventional jazz. She has taken poems and lyrics that possess a personal resonance for her and framed them in original new compositions that utilize vocals for the first time. The result is an eclectic collection that incorporates elements of jazz, art song, classical, and folk/pop. After a successful Canadian Jazz Festival Summer Tour, Tosoff returns to Frankie's Jazz Club with Toronto-based vocalist Lydia Persaud (winner of the 2013 Oscar Peterson Award). This show will include repertoire from Amanda’s latest release Words, as well as brand new songs featuring the words of William Wordsworth, Edgar Allan Poe, Joni Mitchell, Rufus Wainwright, and Yo Yo Ma – as well as repertoire from the American Song book from composers like Harold Arlen and Cole Porter. "Words is a grand achievement just on its musical merits, but the key to this one is the poems turned vocalist, adding a new dimension to Tosoff's sound. The result it musical reverie." (Mark Rheaume - CBC Radio)  Of Lydia Persaud: “a fabulous rich tone, wonderful soul inflections and a passionate stage presence” (Duke Ellington Society)
